Yesterday was the highlight of my blogging journey. From my previous post, I did mention I have been blogging on and off for 10 years now. Meeting Claire Sulmers of the amazing and popular blog fashionbombdaily was an evening to remember. Claire organized another edition of “Conversations with Claire” in Washington, D.C., which will be her first this year. It included a panel of Celebrities in the business who came to give advise on how to survive, monetize and network in the fashion industry. Immediately after that, everyone had the opportunity to meet up with Claire and the other panelists.
She was so gracious and welcoming. She looked even more beautiful in person. I will not pretend, it took me some time to fess up and walk up to her. I literally had been prepping my questions and everything for the moment I meet her for weeks.
Well let’s start off with how my day began. My outfit was already planned weeks before and the theme was to wear shiny shoes. I didn’t have any shoes that would match the outfit I had in mind and had put together in my “collage”(yes I make a collage before attending any event 🤷🏾♀️). I decided to go with my black strappy shoes which worked out well for me.
I mean I was not going to skip on this opportunity because of that. Left home 20 minutes to the event, even though I was 40 minutes away from the location. 🤦🏽♀️. I believe I am cursed with always being late. I’ll work on that. Once I arrived, I called up one of my girlfriends to make sure she was in there. I walked in, saw Claire and I froze Lol. Then I looked around. My gosh! There were some stylish girls and boys in there. Everyone looked amazing. I could only snap with a few people and my camera setting was not the best. I couldn’t get their full looks.
Everyone smiled and graciously agreed to take pics.
Cocktails were free and we were served mini burgers as well. Which were very delicious by the way and I’m not a burger girl. I finally walked up to Claire, introduced myself and said my blog name was “Fashionbomb daily” 🤦🏽♀️. She said “Is that so?” With a smile on her face and I wish I could disappear. I think she knew I was nervous and she reached out for a hug.
I felt comfortable again and proceeded in asking “some” of the questions I had for her and I was grateful for all her advise. We laughed about other things and I had to walk away because I could see the eagerness in the eyes of some of the fashionistas around me. Waiting to have a moment with this fashion queen. Who can blame them right?
By the way did I mention the DJ was awesome? I didn’t know if it was a male or a female DJ but no one was standing still in the room. I teased my friend who was almost about to take it back to undergrad days on the dance floor.
Time went by so fast. Meeting new people, taking pictures, getting advise, drinking etc. By the time I looked at my watch it was 4:30pm.
So I did what I know best to do. You know it! I had a mini photoshoot outside of the building.
Met a group of men and women hanging not far from the event location and I decided to have a photoshoot with two of their cars and ended up with an audience. Lol.
I am extremely shy, however I had to get out of that and take the pics I needed. I even had one of them show me how to pose. One of the ladies who was taking random pictures was happy to take these pics of me.
Of course thousands of pictures were taken and only a few were up to par 🤷🏾♀️. That’s women for you. Lol.
How did you spend your weekend?
